Semotus Solutions, a wireless application
service provider (ASP), announced an agreement with Mshift, a
provider of wireless development software, to market and
deploy MobileShift Liberate, which lets users remotely access
and control their desktop PC's via any Web-enabled device
including cell phones, Pocket PCs, and Palm OS-based PDAs.
MobileShift Liberate allows users to directly
access data on and remotely control their individual PCs
without compromising security, and are not required to create
and maintain additional profiles for use while traveling,
according to Mshift. It allows users of the RIM Blackberry,
which can be used only to receive and send email, to view
files on their desktop, and email those files as attachments.
MobileShift Liberate also enables Palm OS and Pocket PC
devices to access the Windows desktop and remotely control
your desktop PC, according to Mshift. This feature essentially
allows the user to run any application on their desktop PC,
from a remote location.
