Semotus to Distribute MobileShift Liberate Remote Access and Control Technology

Strategic Partnership Between Semotus and MShift Continues with Expanding Revenue Opportunities

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 29, 2001-- Semotus Solutions (AMEX:DLK - news), a market leading wireless application service provider (w-ASP) and infrastructure architect, today announced an agreement with partner MShift, Inc., a leading provider of wireless development software and solutions, to market and deploy MobileShift(TM) Liberate, a product that bridges the firewall gap and lets users remotely access and control their desktop PC's via any web-enabled device including cell phones, PocketPC PDA's, and PalmOS PDA's.

MobileShift(TM) Liberate is a break-through product in the remote access and control wireless software arena, providing users the ability to access and control their desktop PCs and Intranets behind firewalls with any web-enabled devices including phones, Pocket PC's or PalmOS devices.

``Up until now, the average mobile worker has had very limited options for remotely accessing data behind the corporate firewall, usually requiring use of VPNs (Virtual Private Network), which are difficult to configure and impractical for the average non-technical mobile user'' says Awele Ndili, president and CEO of MShift, Inc. ``Other solutions such as Terminal Services or PC Anywhere require the assignment of fixed routable IP addresses. This compromises network security, and can end up being a nightmare for the IT person in charge of maintaining the infrastructure for a large mobile field force. Using the MobileShift(TM) Liberate solution, users bypass these potential problems, and can quickly access and control their office PC, including all applications, files and corporate email from any remote location, via web-enabled cell phones, PDAs, Palm and PocketPC devices, and remote PCs, regardless of firewall limitations or local network configurations.''

``The market for this long-anticipated technology is huge,'' states Valerie Goodwin, Semotus VP of marketing and business development. ``With the deployment of MobileShift(TM) Liberate, remote control wireless technology has finally caught up with the urgent needs of mobile users to be able to access real-time enterprise data. Semotus is in an excellent position to distribute MobileShift(TM) Liberate to the mobile Internet user community, and the revenue sharing opportunities are quite significant, to say the least.''

MobileShift(TM) Liberate's advanced features ensure a leading position in the remote access and control software market. Conventional wireless solutions involve approaches such as email forwarding and syncing with a third party solution provider, with virtually no direct access to data on individual PC's. With MobileShift(TM) Liberate, users can directly access data on and remotely control their individual PC's without compromising security, and are not required to create and maintain additional profiles for use while traveling. For example, the popular RIM Blackberry, which can currently be used only to receive and send email, can now, via MobileShift(TM) Liberate, be used to view files on your desktop, and email those files as attachments. MobileShift(TM) Liberate also enables PalmOS and PocketPC devices to access the Windows(TM) desktop and thereby remotely control your desktop PC. This feature essentially allows the user to run any application on their desktop PC, from a remote location.

``Semotus continues to provide enterprise mobile users with the latest in cutting-edge wireless technology by offering them products like MobileShift(TM) Liberate,'' continues Valerie Goodwin. ``As our clients' wireless user base grows, they can be sure that we will keep them equipped with the most up-to-the-minute tools, ensuring that their users are getting the mission critical information they need in real time, minus the costly delays.''
