Serves Growing International Wireless Market
HP
Korea Rolls Out Wireless Services Using MShift's
MobileShift Toolkit Technology
San
Jose, Calif., November 13, 2000- MShift, a leading provider
of wireless development tools for the corporate environment,
today announced that HP Korea will be using its MobileShift
Toolkit technology to create mobile applications and
solutions for its clients. In a sign that MShift is strategically
leveraging its channel partners, HP Korea will resell a
private labeled version of MShift's MobileShift
Toolkit technology as a core part of HP's Mobile solutions.
At
60%, wireless penetration rates in Korea are the 2nd highest
in the world behind Finland. However, in the Korean marketplace,
this represents more than 25 million wireless phone users,
with 50% of these Mobile Internet enabled by the start of
2001. "Our move into Korea underscores the global mandate
of MShift," said Scott Moeller, CEO of MShift. "Developers
using our MobileShift Toolkit have the ability
to create mobile applications on a Global scale. The MobileShift
technology supports any language the device understands,
as well as over 137 languages people understand, including
Korean and Japanese. This is key to our current expansion
in the Asian/Pacific Rim market, as well as our expansion
into the rest of the world."
"Wireless
is one of the most rapidly emerging areas in Korea, both
in the B2B and B2C spaces," said Eui-Youl Han, Senior Consultant
at HP Korea. "As part of our commitment to cultivating this
market, we have decided to use MShift's technology, due
not only to its high level of scalability, but also to its
Global initiatives, support for multiple languages and superb
ease of use."
As
a leading provider of technologies, consulting and services,
HP Korea provides its customers with the underlying technology
and framework to deliver custom and dynamic Web content
to wireless devices. "In this way, companies can focus on
their core competency, which is providing content-and leave
the technology to us," added Han. HP Korea's clients have
been eager to take advantage of the mobile delivery technology,
to deliver B2B applications, enterprise applications, dynamic
content, and even games to cell phones throughout the country.
"MShift
has made it easy for us," added Han. "In addition to its
remarkable simplicity, the MShift solution is elegant and
robust-capable of delivering applications and content of
almost any type to any wireless device in Korea, indeed
the world."
MShift
is the first to provide new entrants into the wireless market
with a full-featured development environment, by which Mobile
Internet applications can be developed for any Internet
enabled Mobile device. MShift allows companies to translate
Web data from any standard protocol, and in almost any language,
for use on any type of wireless device, from phones to pagers
to PDAs, anywhere in the world-with no programming required.
